New camera shutter provides privacy for hospital videophone calls

JAOtech has introduced a new camera
shutter to provide total privacy to patients using the Obie and Jima
Smart Terminals by rendering the optional camera completely inoperative.
Cameras can be integrated into JAOtech’s bedside Smart Terminals for
video calls between patients and relatives or friends, and to allow
medical staff to monitor patients’ well-being. The new camera shutter
slides completely over the lens to disable use and has been introduced
to conform with current European privacy standards.
The fully integrated 2 megapixel camera module uses the latest CMOS technology and is available on both the 17" Obie, and the 15" widescreen Jima Smart Terminals from JAOtech.
