Master Concerts kick off spring with jazz and dance – St Bolton

On the third evening of the concert series, internationally renowned artists bring traditional jazz from New York clubs to the state capital.
On Thursday, February 22nd at 6:30pm Martin Breinschmidt and Swingin' Prisoners welcome singer Danja Filipovic to the Courtyard Stage with a refreshingly young voice. As usual in this genre, the evening will be an interplay of the familiar and the unexpected, which always knows how to surprise in new ways through the variety of jazz. This year, for the first time, the music was directed by a dance duo with 1930s fashion dances. As usual, the program offers high quality traditional jazz by George and Ira Gershwin, Will Hudson and Spencer Williams.

Artists

Vienna-born Martin Breinschmidt is an internationally known drummer and vibraphonist. Along with his Prisoners of Swing, consisting of pianist Matthias Bartha, clarinetist Herbert Svoboda and bassist Harry Putz, he has been a fixture in master concerts for many years. This year, Serbian singer Danja Filipovic will provide vocals for the evening. Meanwhile, Kati Horngacher and Petar Paradzikovic and Thomas Marek, a top dancer from the Viennese swing club, dance “Some Like It Hot”.
