Upper Austria Junior Girls Wild Card Challenge 2025 with new format

The winner of the Win2day ÖTV national championship or indoor championship will be there.

Traditionally, the wild card to qualify for the WTA 500 tournament is played before the Upper Austria Ladies Linz – the finalist has the chance to get another free ticket as a “lucky loser”. The so-called Upper Austria Young Women’s Wild Card Challenge takes place on 18/19. The event, which will take place again in January 2025 at the OÖTV Performance Center at Bockgasse 26 in Linz, will have a new format the following year. This is about the admission criteria for the field of participants, which is limited to eight players.

In the future, athletes will be able to qualify for this event in a specific order. Preference will be given to winners of Win2Day ÖTV National Championships and Austrian Indoor Championships. Behind these two matches, a points ranking comes into effect, according to which further places are awarded in the Upper Austria Junior Women’s Wild Card Challenge. In the event of a tie, the WTA/ITF ranking will decide first, then the ÖTV ranking (AK, then Youth). Two tickets to the Wildcard Challenge will also be awarded by Wildcard – one owned by ÖTV and one owned by RBG Reichel Business Group. Winners of two free tickets will be notified no later than January 16, 2025.

A strong performance at the Win2day ÖTV National Championships and/or the Austrian Indoor Championships opens the door to the Upper Austria Young Women’s Wild Card Challenge. Another reason to register early for the Win2day ÖTV State Championships in Oberpullendorf (June 29 to July 7, 2024). The deadline for entries is Tuesday, June 25 at 8:00 p.m.
